All the children are placed in teams when they join the school as we always make sure siblings are in the same team. The children feel very strongly about their teams and work hard to earn team points through showing they are keeping the Golden Rules, for demonstrating ‘easy excellence’ and for doing their best.
Each child has their own team point book and look forward to filling a page so that they can be awarded a merit in our Celebration Assembly.
For every team point they earn themselves, they also earn a point for their team and it is announced in assembly each week which team has the most team points. The winning team each term is awarded a certificate and the team that wins overall at the end of the year gets to have a Team Party!
Being in teams has enabled the children to develop good team spirit as well as good sportsmanship. Team Captains are appointed each year and guide the team and lead them in different activities, including in Team Time – a whole school session working in teams. Team Time takes place regularly and is led and run by the Team Captains. This is a lovely opportunity for the children to develop their leadership skills and build team spirit and identity. They do this through planned activities with everyone throughout the school working together in their teams.
